How Do I Keep My Pool Liner Clean?

Cleaning pool liners properly is something that not all pool owners know how to do. If you go to clean your pool liners with no previous knowledge, cleaning pool liners can be a huge mistake.

Kayden Manufacturing is here to give you tips on how to clean your vinyl pool liners the right way!

If you contact us today, our Kayden Manufacturing’s professionals can guide you through the process of cleaning your pool liners. We know all pool liners are different, so there are many techniques we can show you to help clean vinyl pool liners.

Here are just a few elements to keep in mind before cleaning your pool liners.

Proper water chemistry

Keep the pH level between 7.2 and 7.6, and keep the chlorine at 1.5-2.5 parts per million. To avoid corrosion levels, the recommended level for calcium is 200 to 500 ppm, while alkalinity levels should be at 80 to 120 ppm. This guideline often corrects any staining caused by organic matter (e.g. plants and algae).

Adding chemicals

One of the most common ways to keep your vinyl pool liners clean is to use chemicals. When adding chemicals, make sure you add one chemical at a time.

Wait for the chemicals to completely dissolve before you add another chemical into the water. NEVER add chemicals directly to your pool liners because they’ll ruin your pool liner!

Cleaning agents

A bleach and water solution — or baking soda — are good ways to clean pool liners. There are also a number of other designated cleaners used just for pools.

Use care when scrubbing

Do not scrub more vigorously than needed. Be gentle enough not to tear or scratch the lining, but firm enough to remove stains.

Keeping leaves and grass clippings out of the water helps prevent staining, as does maintaining water chemistry. Take care of your pool liner and you will continue to enjoy pristine, crystal-clear water and a well-kept liner.
